Proposal abstract :
The SDProctor Conference proposes the implementation of the 3rd Eye Project, using the Sacred Fire Video Library (SFVL) as a pedagogical resource tool for personal and digital learning in the areas of theology and religion. From African American religious and African spirituality, liberation-, womanist- and queer theology-lenses, the 3rd Eye Project is to inform “teaching towards Ubuntu (“I am because We are”).” In this intense period of competing paradigms, we propose to bring to the marketplace curriculum content and a model for transformative teaching and learning in areas of 1. African American and African spirituality; 2. Interfaith Intersections; and 3. Ethics, Social Justice and Human Rights. The 3rd Eye Project’s outcomes will include a bibliographic and video companion compendium for the SFVL as a part of model (education) and movement (advocacy and activism) building. The 3rd Eye Project will engage a diversity of stakeholders in the academic and civic community.
