Proposal abstract :
In this time of unprecedented turmoil nationally and in theological education, Columba seeks funding to enhance support of the faculty’s health and wellbeing in the short and long term. We propose three key grant components: (1) Provide faculty members with dedicated funds to attend to their wellbeing in AY2025-26 and signal the importance of self-care through regular conversations and encouragements. (2) With a consultant, identify and implement meaningful workload adjustments for individual faculty members and the collegium while not losing sight of implications for staff and students, and (3) Implement a four-day teaching and committee meeting week by AY2026-2027 to enable one day/week for deep work and/or rest. Our goal is to provide faculty with the support they need during this critical time so that they are better positioned and able to teach and mentor well.
