Communal Engagement

Our Approach to Communal Engagement

At the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive and intellectually vibrant community. Our shared purpose is to foster dialogue that is thoughtful, courageous, and grounded in mutual respect. We welcome and champion diverse voices and experiences, recognizing that our differences enrich our collective growth.

We expect all participants in our community, in-person and online, to engage with integrity, generosity, and care. Disrespectful, harmful, or exclusionary behavior has no place in our vision for our project. We have—and will continue to—hold ourselves and each other accountable to standards that promote equity, challenge bias, and affirm the dignity of every individual.

Particularly for our resources, in accordance with this effort, we will remove comments and commentary that do not uphold these standards to which we are committed. We will take action to block and exclude those who would use our platforms to enact a kind of violence on others. For our cohort programming, we champion open dialogue that is considerate, kind, and does not shrink away from the complexities of scholarship or the challenges of the wider world.

Together, we create and sustain a space where teaching and learning thrive—where questioning is encouraged, growth is nurtured, and community is built through meaningful and responsible engagement.
